As Feyre's feeling for Tamlin begin to burn through every warning she's been told about his kind, an ancient, wicked shadow grows.

Feyre must find a way to break a spell, or lose her heart forever.

Yes guys I gave this book a 3 star rating, I'm sorry okay! It's just not what I expected.

Initially I didn't know much about this book other than it being some sort of retelling of beauty and the beast (one of my favourite disney movies) is some sort of way. I didn't really pick up many elements of beauty and the beast if I'm honest but maybe that's just me focusing on other aspects of the story because there is a lot going on in this book.

My first thoughts of this book were that I didn't like it that much, I found it kind of slow moving. Now although I said I wasn't going to let the hype of the book affect my judgement on this book I think it may have somehow seeped into my head without me realsing. There were a few moments I was even going to put the book down but decided against it and I'm so glad I did.

It started to become more interesting around 150 pages in and I did start reading it a lot more. I have never read a Sarah J Maas book before and actually really enjoyed her writing. It's so easy to follow and she really knows how to capture the attention of a reader by building characters and having suspense as well as using the surroundings of the setting to set the mood.

The characters of this book were super interesting as they all were so different from each other. I'm not a huge fan of fantasy books but this book really intrigued me and I know for definite I'm going to have to get my hands on the seconds book.

I have to say though guys, i don't know if it's just me or what but from the introduction of Rhysand until the end of the book I actually really enjoyed him as a character and really actually quite liked him. I of course like him more and more towards to end but I definitely liked him from the first moment he was introduced even though he's not exactly a good guy.

So when I got to the end of the book I actually really loved Tamlin as a character, his heart is so big and caring and what more can you ask for in a guy right? He's adorable. I also really loved Fayre, she's such as strong individual and I just really loved seeing her character grow throughout the book. The romance between Tamlin and Fayre is sweet but it kind of sprung out of nowhere which was kind of annoying. I don't feel there was any build into it it just kind of happened.  The final character who is probably on of my favourtie characters is Lucien. I feel as though if these characters were real, Lucien is the one person I would most likely get on with the best. He has a sense of humor and is almost easy going but also has that edge to him. The ending was a little dull in my opinion, I kind of wanted more of a cliffhanger in order to really want to pick up the next book but I didn't get that. I am however, still going to pick the last book up just to try it simply because everyone says it's better than the first and I really want to see if the second book will change my mind about this series.

  1. I've been looking forward to reading this, but wanted to wait for more books in the series was out. I've seen some absolutely hate it, and some love it. Makes me kind of nervous. :D Hope the 2nd book works better for you.
