Into The Water by Paula Hawkins : Book Review

Title  :  Into The Water

Author  :  Paula Hawkins

Format  :  Paperback

Length  :  368 Pages

Rating  :  ★ ★ ★ ★
With the same propulsion that captivated millions of readers worldwide in The Girl on the Train, Paula Hawkins unfurls a gripping, twisting, layered story set in a small riverside town. Once again Hawkins demonstrates her powerful understanding of human instincts and the damage they can inflict.

Into the Water is an addictive novel of psychological suspense about the slipperiness of the truth, and a family drowning in secrets.

She was fascinated by the women's deaths that surrounded what she called 'The Drowning Pool' and now she was one of those women. Nel Abbott was, you could say, obsessed with the stories of the women who died in the river situated in a her small town but one day she is one of the bodies found in the water. dead. We follow various different perspectives on how each individual deals with her death. As we get deeper into the book we see the story unravel and begin to see connections as the mystery unfolds before our eyes. Even once you've finished the book you are left wondering what's to be...

I honestly thought I wasn't going to like this book as much as I did. I was really looking forward to it and was planning on picking it up when it first came out but never got around to doing so. I then read some reviews that were a little negative in comparison to her other book which I really enjoyed. So was kind of disappointed.  When I started the book I had those other views in my head and it was making me now enjoy what I was reading (I also think the story was a little slow paced at first). But as I got deeper and deeper into the book I started to really enjoy it and I looked forward to hearing from particular perspectives.

This book did not remind me of Hawkins' first novel by any means but I really did enjoy this. the writing was amazing and the characters so distinctively different which is something I love. The plot was amazing right up to the very end, and keeps you on your feet always second guessing.

Would recommend if you are a fan of this genre and if you have read her debut novel The Girl On The Train.
